Design Critique

For my third project in the Ironhack UX/UI Design bootcamp, I was tasked with redesigning four screens of an app of my choice.

Project overview

Project overview

I chose Uber Eats because, as a frequent user, I often felt overwhelmed by the excess of information — constant promotions, excessive highlighted content — distracting from the core experience. My challenge? Simplifying the user experience to make navigation smoother and more enjoyable.
This solo project, completed in just two days, presented a unique challenge: regaining my independence after several collaborative projects. It also pushed me to improve my time management, especially by learning to prioritize and not get stuck on minor details.

Methodology

I studied several competitors to identify their strengths and weaknesses. In parallel, I carried out a heuristic evaluation of Uber Eats based on Nielsen's principles. This analysis enabled me to identify key issues, including information overload and a lack of clarity in filters and navigation.

Redesign

I optimized the home page by reducing the space taken up by promotions, restructured the grocery section for better readability, improved the display of information on the restaurant and product pages, and facilitated access to essential options. The aim was to make the interface more coherent, while preserving the Uber Eats visual identity.

Key Takeaways

This project, completed in just two days, strengthened my ability to make quick and effective decisions, while improving my management of priorities. Design criticism played a key role in my approach, enabling me to identify inconsistencies and refine my choices. This experience also taught me to balance creativity and time constraints, an essential skill for designing optimized, user-centered interfaces.
